ComPart Multimedia was the winner of the 2012 Mob App Award at SMAU ROMA in the Tourism category with its iPhone application "ItalyGuides: Rome travel guide" created in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz Italy.


The Mob App Award aims to support the culture of innovation in the Mobile field by generating a virtuous mechanism for sharing experiences of excellence among developers, companies, public administrations, sector operators, and users.

ComPart Multimedia's app stood out as the best consumer app based on next-generation mobile devices, with particular reference to graphic quality and completeness of content.

The award ceremony took place on March 22, 2012 at the Rome Fair (Hall 1, Room 1), during the Rome stage of the SMAU Business Roadshow 2012. The award was received by Leonardo Calandra on behalf of ComPart Multimedia and Maurizio Varvarà (Parts & Accessories Marketing Manager) for Mercedes-Benz Italy. The program provided for the presentation of the finalist products to the jury and public during the morning, starting at 10:00, with the awards ceremony scheduled for 12:00.

With the rapid diffusion of apps in the consumer world and lately also in the business world, a new digital craftsmanship is emerging, often made up of micro-enterprises in which the creativity and entrepreneurial flair of the new generations play a fundamental role. Through the Mob App Awards and the Mob App Camp Smau, it wants to be a stage to enhance the numerous excellences, all Italian, that are developing on this front.

Arriving at its second edition (the first was held in October during SMAU Milan 2011), the Smau Mob App Awards 4 Consumer - promoted by the Mobile Internet, Content & Apps Observatory of the School of Management of the Polytechnic University of Milan and SMAU, rewards the best consumer apps for both smartphones and tablets (already launched on the market or still in development).

The event included an overview of market trends related to the App and New Tablet market and the presentation of numerous apps that have reached the final stage of the contest with the award ceremony for the winners.

The apps were evaluated by a diverse committee composed of experts in the field of innovation technology based on the following criteria:

  • Innovativeness
  • Usability
  • Creativity and design
  • Market potential

The goal of the competition is to value high-quality multimedia works. The applications were selected within the six categories in the competition (Games and Entertainment - Information, Media and Publishing - Community and Social - Utility, Tools and Productivity - Mobile Marketing & Service - Mobile Commerce & Payment).
